Following successive confinements, young people want to take advantage of their summer holidays to eat better and get back into sport.
- According to the WHO classification, we speak of overweight when the BMI is greater than 25 and obese when it exceeds 30.
- In 2020, nearly one in two French people (47.3%) was overweight and/or obese.
After months of health restrictions and a slowdown in physical and sporting activities, 31% of French people want to get back on their feet this summer according to a new survey Harris Interactive and WW. A desire that is felt more among those under 35, with 46% of them planning to spend a summer “healthy”.
To achieve this, nearly a third of French people show an interest in using a mobile application allowing them to access content relating to well-being, but also to be accompanied by a coach and obtain personalized follow-up. This approach is more popular with millennials, since 61% say they want to be coached.
33% of French people have gained weight
Indeed, during the successive confinements, 33% of French people (including 39% of 25/34 year olds) gained weight, and 1 in 3 French people today say they have a less sporty lifestyle than before.
47% of French people, however, say they have trouble reconciling social life and healthy eating. 24% of French people generally favor their balanced diet, where 23% devote themselves more to their social life. More marked figures among young people, 36% of whom prefer aperitifs with friends rather than going home to prepare a healthy meal.
