Tight in your birth suit
Have you finally lost some pounds by paying close attention to your diet and exercising regularly, your skin suddenly looks very faded. Fortunately, your skin is a flexible organ, which you can effortlessly bring back into line with these practical advice.
#1 Scrub!
Exfoliating your skin removes dead skin cells, stimulates your blood circulation and stimulates the production of new skin cells, resulting in a tighter skin.
#2 Take care of your skin
Use skin care that nourishes your skin and keeps it elastic and avoid irritating or drying substances. Lubricate preferably twice a day.
#3 Protect your skin
Use good sun protection. An excess of UV radiation causes your skin to age faster and become less elastic.
#4 Watch out for chlorine
Chlorine irritates and dries out the skin. Preferably avoid it and swim in the sea or lake. If your sport is ‘doing laps’, rinse your skin well before and after swimming. It may help to lubricate yourself with oil before swimming.
#5 Get a massage
Massaging the skin not only has a relaxing effect, but it also improves blood circulation. Your skin becomes firmer and tighter.
#6 Practice dry brushing
Dry brushing is a good way to stimulate blood flow and make the skin nice and smooth. It also works against cellulite. Brush yourself daily, always in the direction of your heart.
#7 Move
Of course, moving helps. Adjust your program and exercise schedule to which parts of your body you want to treat. Sagging skin around the waist and abdominal area calls for abs exercises and stretching, while glutes and thighs are strengthened by walking, cycling or swimming for an hour. Daily short workouts combined with healthy eating habits correct your sagging skin little by little and keep it taut for longer.
#8 Drink enough water
It’s scientifically proven but not many people do it. Make sure you get at least 1.5 liters of fluids every day. You can alternate between water and other drinks (preferably no fruit juices or soft drinks, but coffee and tea).
- Your skin is tightening
- Your condition will improve
- Fatigue will disappear faster
- You feel fitter, which makes you want to exercise
#9 Go to the sauna
At high temperatures, the blood vessels and pores dilate maximally. As a result, excess sebum and other dirt are easily removed through sweat and steam. During cooling, the pores actually contract. This stimulates the blood circulation in your skin. So a few sauna rounds in a row keeps your skin ‘moving’, making it softer and more supple.
#10 Yoga
Yoga builds muscles and stimulates the elimination of waste. It is an excellent way to keep your skin taut and firm, and it also makes you very limber.
#11 Jump!
Jumping stimulates your blood flow and your lymphatic system. The latter in turn plays an important role in the removal of moisture and waste. In addition, jumping ensures the supply of extra oxygen to the skin, which promotes elasticity. It is possible in the skin room, but of course it is more fun on the trampoline.
#12 Don’t smoke
Smoking is unhealthy anyway, but it also has a constricting effect on the blood vessels in your skin. Your skin gets a reduced blood supply and therefore a shortage of oxygen and nutrients. Smoking also breaks down collagen, elastin and vitamin C; all building blocks of your skin.
#13 Alternating showers
Take a cold shower, alternate hot and cold water or at least end up under the cold jet for at least 30 seconds. This ensures better blood flow. Your muscles and blood vessels contract. This also stimulates cell renewal.
