Bullied, belittled, beaten, raped … In France, four out of five disabled women (or 80% of disabled women) experience violence, according to figures from the United Nations (UN) and the High Council to the equality between women and men.
“Ecoute Violences Femmes Handicapées”, a unique number in France
The association “Women to Say It, Women to Act“(FDFA) is launching” Écoute Violences Femmes Handicapées “, a platform intended to listen to, support and support disabled women, victims of violence and abuse. The call number is 01 40 47 06 06.
They will be able to find a listening ear and denounce the violence to the ten people trained to respond to them every Monday from 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two part-time psychologists will be there to support the volunteers. If necessary and outside these hours, disabled women can contact the FDFA association at its usual number, the 01 45 66 63 97.
Workshops and talk groups for more autonomy
This platform aims to help these women acquire more autonomy. For those who wish, they will be able to meet the volunteers in the premises of the association (Paris 15th) and participate in workshops (beauty and well-being, with a socio-esthetician, job-work, directed by a professional “Hanploi”. ..) or to talk groups led by a psychologist.
“All disabled women who experience verbal, psychological, physical violence, who are raped, must call this number. Violence is prohibited, it must be combated. Disabled women must denounce it”, explains Maudy Piot, president of FDFA .
Other numbers for vulnerable people
There is already an emergency number for women in danger : the 39 19.
Note that since 2008, another national platform, the 39 77, intended for any witness (or victim) of mistreatment of an elderly, disabled or quite simply, vulnerable person. Interlocutors answer from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
