The baguette is one of the symbols of France. Soft crumb, crunchy and fragrant crust… It is rare that it is not invited to every meal. However, relayed by West France, the Haut Conseil de la Santé Publique (HCSP) recommends avoiding white bread which is made with refined flour. What to replace it with then? From bread to Whole grains ! High in fiber and much more nutritious, as the nutrients from the germ and seed bran are retained. It also helps prevent certain diseases.
Indeed, these fibers make it possible to better regulate the level of cholesterol and the level of glycemia. They are therefore strongly recommended to prevent or delay diseases such as diabetes And heart problems. They also contribute to the feeling of satiety, so no more untimely snacking ! Questioned by Ouest France, Arnaud Cocaul, nutritionist, explains that consuming too many refined products such as white bread prevents our body from accessing all the nutrients necessary for its proper functioning.
Towards new health messages
Apart from whole grains, the HCSP also recommends prioritizing more legumes and of nutsstill too shunned by the French, to eat 2 dairy products per day, not to exceed 500 g of Red meat per week or to consume two servings of fish per week. These new recommendations are part of the creation of new health messages in order to add them to the very famous:
– For your health, eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day
– For your health, practice regular physical activity
– For your health, avoid snacking between meals
– For your health, do not eat too fat, too sweet, too salty
It will then be up to Santé Publique France to appropriate these recommendations in order to make slogans that will still mark the spirits!
