Stewed pears, who doesn’t love them? That’s how you make them!
Ingredients
-
1 kilo stewed pears (Gieser Wildeman for example)
-
300 ml red wine
-
50 grams of honey
-
1 cinnamon stick
-
3 star anise
-
1 tablespoon potato starch
Preparation
• Peel the stewed pears and leave the stem on. Place the pears in a pan.
• Pour the red wine on top and add the honey. Add the cinnamon stick and star anise and bring to the boil.
• Simmer the stewed pears for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, until they are soft and red (some varieties will be redder than others).
• Carefully remove the pears, cinnamon stick and star anise from the liquid.
• Loosen the potato flour with a little water and add this to the boiling liquid. Stir until it binds. Store liquid and pears separately until serving hot or cold.
Tip:
Delicious as a side dish with game or as a dessert with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream.
