Cancer : a film that responds to fears and questions children
Suitable for all ages, the animated film helps children understand cancer and the treatment process to follow to treat the disease. For this, we follow “investigation” of Camille whose mother is affected by cancer. With her, the spectator discover the different treatment areas: oncologist’s office, patient’s room, chemotherapy room, radiotherapy room, etc.
The video, available on YouTube, also addresses questions that little ones may ask: how does cancer happen? How to treat yourself? My questions dodo they hurt my parent? Why does my brother always get upset when I talk about mom’s cancer?
“It was the professionals and patients of the Saint Jean de Dieu Clinic who contributed to the writing and filming, as screenwriters and actors. The radiotherapy department of the Porte de Saint-Cloud Cancer Center also participated.”, specifies the press release.
The project was reward
This animated film of 14 minutes which helps to deconstruct distressing representations and free children’s emotions, was rewarded with the Foundation’s Commitment Trophies prize. Cognacq-Jay. It was produced by Paroles en images (Jennifer Parize and Franck Renaud) while the character illustrations were done by Jordan Renaud and the character voice by Kimiko Kitamura.
