During the International CES consumer electronics show, Loïc Cessot, co-founder of the French start-up Kolibree, presented their health innovation, a smart toothbrush connected to the Internet, to an AFP journalist.
This internet-connected brush has a sensor that can detect your movements and the amount of limescale removed with each wash. It then sends the data to a smartphone app for analysis.
“When you use a normal toothbrush, you never really know what you have cleaned,” Mr. Cessot reminds AFP.
However, this application analyzes the washing and tells you if the brushing has been effective, the intensity sufficient, or if certain areas have been neglected.
“With Kolibree’s device-linked app, the user can tell if they’ve missed some hard-to-clean areas or aren’t brushing their teeth thoroughly enough. It can also allow parents to check whether their children have brushed their teeth well,” said Mr. Cessot.
This smart toothbrush rechargeable by induction will be sold at the end of 2014 between 100 and 200 euros. You can then order your toothbrush on the Kickstarter participatory site.
