The Aygo grows slightly in size and gets 17-inchers
Small cars become big. Or at least slightly bigger. You are looking at the Toyota Aygo X, the successor to the current Aygo. It stands higher on its feet and has sturdy plastic protective covers around the wheel arches. Although the rear still looks very similar to the old one, it is a completely new model. It seems that the Aygo has the empire to itself, because there is no news from Citroën and Peugeot about the successors of the C1 and the 108. Previously they shared the platform with the Aygo.
The new Toyota Aygo X is slightly bigger
The new urban conqueror is on the same platform as the Toyota Yaris, but slightly shortened. Compared to the old Aygo, the newcomer is 2.35 centimeters longer and no less than 12.5 centimeters wider. The wheelbase increased by 90 millimeters, nice for tall people in the back seat. The off-road look also means that the car is 11 millimeters higher and you are even 55 millimeters higher than before. The luggage compartment increases by 60 liters to 231 liters. The Aygo is now standard on 17-inch wheels and optionally you can even go for 18-inchers.
The interior of the new Aygo
Toyota is taking big steps in the interior. The temperature is now indicated in a display with a high-gloss bezel and the steering wheel looks a lot less basic. The display between the speedometer has increased in size. In the center of the dashboard, Toyota optionally places a 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you have a little more to spend, you can go for a JBL audio system with a subwoofer. The partly bare doors where the body color returns, return in the Toyota Aygo X. You can also order a sliding roof again.
Engines Toyota Aygo X
Just like the old Aygo, the new city car will again receive a 1.0-liter three-cylinder. Toyota expects a consumption of 4.7 liters of petrol per 100 kilometers. The power is not yet known, but the Aygo will also be available with a CVT automatic transmission. The expected price of the Toyota Aygo X is less than 16,000 euros for the entry-level. That is less than a Volkswagen Up, but a bit more than the Hyundai i10. The final prices will follow before the end of this year. The car should appear in the Netherlands in the second quarter of 2022.
