Deodorant, anti-lime product, toilet gel … Do you really need this myriad of household products to clean your house? A magazine survey 60 million consumers, to be published on Tuesday, raises questions about the legitimacy of accumulating certain products. Especially since many contain substances toxic to health.

The magazine draws up a “blacklist” of substances to avoid in a “toxics memo”. In alphabetical order, these components harmful to health are deciphered and accompanied by brands and products in which they are often found. The components in the journal’s sights are often irritating and allergenic to the skin (hydro-chloric acid, phenoxyetahnol) or even harmful to the environment (EDTA).

The editorial staff of the magazine wishes to warn about the double messages of products supposed to cleanse the interior but which at the same time prove to be aggressive and dangerous for health. Is it really necessary to equip yourself with a panoply of products that do not mix well, implicitly ask the journalists in the survey. “Fabric softeners, fridge or dishwasher deodorants, limescale removers, pillow mists, washing machine cleaners … We multiply the molecules, the volatile organic compounds, all this mixes with pollution, the sun, and gives even more toxic molecules, “Adeline Tregouët, editor-in-chief of the magazine of the National Institute of Consumption (INC), told AFP.
To limit the risks, the survey gives a list of 100 sheets (products and 300 recipes that are healthier and more respectful of health. grandma’s recipes updates that guarantee a more eco-friendly household such as baking soda which disinfects and purifies, white vinegar to clean and shine, stain remover salt, etc.
