If you’ve already bought your chocolate eggs for Easter, now is the time to be on the safe side. The French health authorities have indeed been informed of the occurrence of 21 cases of salmonellosis in France, distributed throughout the country. These cases appeared after the consumption ofKinder brand chocolate eggs.
The median age of cases is 4 years old, according to Santé Publique France. Of the 21 cases, eight were hospitalized and all returned to their homes.
The recalled products, all manufactured in the same factory in Arlon, Belgium, are as follows, regardless of their expiration date :
- Kindersurprise 20g (by one, by three, by four and by six) and 100g ;
- Kinder Schoko-bons milk 125g, 150g, 200g, 300g, 330g, 350g, 480g and 500g ;
- Kinder Mini Eggs hazelnut, cocoa, milk and Kinder Mini Eggs mix;
- Kinder Happy Moments 191g, 242g, 347g, 400g ;
- KinderMix : 193g, Basket 150g, plush 133g, Bucket 198g, Car 125g.
The French health authorities ask all people holding these products to do not consume them and dispose of them immediately. You can get a refund by calling 0800653653 or by sending an email to contact.fr@ferrerro.com, with a photo of the packaging with the product references (use-by date and barcode number). Other Kinder products are not affected by this recall.
Gastrointestinal disorders, fever…
Salmonella infections (Salmonella Typhimurium) are manifested by gastrointestinal disorders, sometimes accompanied by fever, within 48 hours after eating contaminated food. Symptoms may be aggravated in young children, immunocompromised subjects, pregnant women or the elderly. In case of persistent symptoms, do not hesitate to contact your doctor and to inform him of the consumption of these contaminated products.
Finally, in order to limit the transmission of this bacterium as much as possible, especially within your home, wash your hands well with soap and water after going to the toilet, after changing your child’s clothes or before cooking.
