The Totem GT Super is a restomod Alfa Romeo Giulia with a twin-turbo V6 engine offering at least 560 hp. Under its vintage allure, it hides a carbon body, an aluminum suspension and modern sports specifications.
The young Italian company Totem Automobili made a name for itself at the end of 2020 by unveiling the GT Electric, a 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA with a 100% electric motor. The firm today unveils a thermal version of the car called GT Super. The car is fitted with the twin-turbo 2.9 l V6 of the current Giulia Quadrifoglio, associated with its eight-speed automatic gearbox and its various original driving modes. Its configuration is therefore very close to that of the Emilia GT, another Giulia restomod, signed by the German preparer Emilia Auto.
Retro look, modern construction
Like the GT Electric, the GT Super is wider and lower than the original GTA and does without bumpers like the racing cars of the day, but Giugiaro’s original design for the Bertone studio does not not find any denatured. It measures 4.34 m long, 1.78 m wide, 1.28 m high and 2.52 m wheelbase. Its body, roof and body are made of carbon fiber. The doors are reinforced with synthetic aramid fiber. The coupe weighs only 1140 kg. It is equipped with LED lights. The rims, which feature a generous 18-inch diameter, retain a design close to that of the original wheels. In the passenger compartment, the coexistence of very fine carbon bucket seats, leather and checked fabric provides a resolutely sporty and upscale neo-retro atmosphere.
A vintage coupe with supercar performance
The Totem GT Super is offered with three levels of mechanical preparation:
- 560 hp, 700 Nm
- 575 hp, 720 Nm
- 620 hp, 780 Nm
In all cases, the manufacturer announces a top speed of 313 km / h. The ground connections have obviously been redesigned for the vehicle. The car is fitted with aluminum double wishbone suspension at all four corners, manually adjustable shock absorbers, Brembo brakes with 345mm front and 330mm rear rotors, and Pirelli P Zero tires. As an option, you can opt for electrically adjustable damping, even more powerful brakes or even Pirelli Trofeo R tires.
A customizable restomod at will
As is now the norm among these automotive craftsmen, Totem promises its potential customers a very high degree of personalization. The GT Super is still a prototype; its designers expect another year of work to come up with the final model. Pre-reservations are already open. The number of copies possibly defined was not communicated, nor the price. But we already know that the latter includes the basic Giulia, international homologation procedures, and two years of warranty with assistance. The GT Electric to be produced in 20 copies and sold at the base price of 430,000 €, it could be the same for the GT Super.
