Do you know shiitake? From his real name Lentinula edodes, the shiitake, it is this mushroom of Asian origin which is all the rage in all the organic grocery stores of the country. In addition to its sweet taste, shiitake is also good for health, since it would be particularly effective in fighting against cervical cancer.
Today is a new American study (published in the scientific journal Journal of the American College of Nutrition) which praises the small mushroom from Asia: according to researchers at the University of Florida, shiitake is good for the immune system.
A habit to take
To come to this conclusion, the scientists conducted an experiment on 52 healthy volunteers, aged 21 to 41: for 4 weeks, the participants consumed one serving of shiitake daily. Verdict: After a month, blood tests revealed greater activity of T lymphocytes, cells involved in the immune response. “One shiitake per day therefore boosts the immune system, explains Professor Sue Percival, lead author of the study. It is a nutritional habit to take, which can have clearly visible consequences on a daily basis.”
