Apple CarPlay will take over your entire dashboard in its next generation and it will look something like this.
If you don’t like your car’s infotainment, you can use Apple CarPlay (or its alternative to Android called Android Auto, but today we’re talking about CarPlay). Then a number of popular apps and a large number of standard Apple apps can be operated in ‘car-ready’ mode from your navigation screen. It’s all pretty basic and yet many people are fans of it. It is therefore understandable that Apple sees bread in taking CarPlay to the next level.
New generation Apple CarPlay
Renewal means expanding in this case, because Apple shares a slick photo of a dashboard with the new Apple CarPlay. Normally, CarPlay is limited to your infotainment screen, but soon also your counter (provided it is digital) and any second screens on your dashboard. The whole must therefore ensure that everything in your car is a large CarPlay interface. Sounds difficult and maybe it is, but the idea is that everything can be configured to give it your own twist.
The disadvantage is of course that every screen must be made compatible with CarPlay and that Apple takes over your entire car. With the help of widgets, a kind of home screen can be made and all information is recorded in the counters, including how much fuel you have left, the engine temperature and much more. Apple also provides integration for, for example, operating the air conditioning. It’s all pretty high-tech, but don’t expect the new Apple CarPlay in your car any time soon. In the slightly longer term, it may soon become a reality.
