As you already know, smartphones and tablets disrupt your sleep, if you have the misfortune of going to bed late with one or the other in hand, or even wanting to manage insomnia with a screen.
We regularly blame the blue light emitted by screens, and moreover, Apple, in the latest delivery of its iOS 10 operating system, suppresses the blue light from the display as much as possible with the Nightshift function, if you activate the function.
It’s not just blue light that disturbs your sleep
But that is not enough to remove the undoubtedly harmful effect of the light emitted by these screens on your sleep, for a very simple reason: your brain confuses screen light with daylight, just as if daylight, even twilight, came through your bedroom window through shutters or curtains that were too thin.
The smartphone at night blocks the production of melatonin
Because of this light, your brain stops producing melatonin, which prevents your body from going into “rest” mode. If we add thatby consulting your smartphone or tablet, you awaken your brain, making him play a game, or having him read important or stressful emails, it’s really not a good idea to turn him on in bed.
So a piece of advice: if you can, charge your smartphone in another room, don’t leave it on the bedside table, if it’s too tempting!
