This Tuesday, October 6, the Senate adopted at first reading the bill to modernize our health system by 185 votes in favor and 31 against. But in passing, the senators deleted the article on the implementation of generalized third-party payment as well as that on the creation of the plain tobacco pack. We remember that the first had aroused the anger of general practitioners and the second, that of tobacconists.
From now on the text must be the subject of a joint joint committee (7 deputies and 7 senators) which will try to reach a compromise. In the event of failure, it is the National Assembly, where the left is in the majority, which will have the last word by restoring generalized third-party payment.
The main changes made by the Senate
- The ban on UV cabins ;
- Strengthening the transparency of links of interest between doctors and laboratories;
- The backing of shooting room experimentation to care and health centres;
- The strengthening of the right to be forgotten for cancer patients with the reduction to 10 years of the period beyond which no medical information can be collected by insurers.
The Senate bill in numbers
- 477 amendments tabled in Committee, 1258 in public session
- 204 amendments adopted in Committee, 241 in public session
- 32h24 of debates in Committee, 69h31 in public session.
