Former CDA state secretary Mona Keijzer started a petition last Friday for the abolition of the corona ticket, which proved immensely popular. After three days the counter of the number of signatures of the petition had already reached one million. The corona ticket is something that has always been a fuss about, but now it is really clear that many people want to see it abolished. But is this really such a good idea?
The number of signatures shows that many people want the admission ticket to be abolished. Here is a list of why, according to them, the corona admission ticket should be abolished:
- The virus will become epidemic, therefore the evidence should not become a regular tool in society.
- The admission ticket will ensure a division in society. The signatories believe that a corona pass (1, 2 and 3G) is an ‘unjustified curtailment’ of fundamental rights.
- People who sign the petition believe that an admission ticket is an ‘unjustified curtailment’ of fundamental rights.
The disadvantages that the admission ticket entails are not equal to the difference the proof makes in the spread of the virus.
Nevertheless, it is questionable whether abolishing the corona admission ticket is really useful. There is a good chance that the virus will mutate even further after Omikron. What kind of mutations these will be and how everyone will react to this remains to be seen. That is why it may not be smart to abolish the corona ticket now.
If this is done, it will become a lot busier everywhere, according to critics, this creates the chance that infections will rise again under a new mutation of the virus. There may also be more IC recordings. That is why, according to them, it is sensible if the House of Representatives now agrees to 2G, so that it is firmly “in the toolbox” for the future.
