More than 8 million vaccinations have now been administered and 200 shots are added every minute. But even after the vaccination, it is intended that everyone adheres to the guidelines. That means no more than two visitors a day, but are we doing that?
Almost 2 million people have already had their second shot and many of them are elderly people who have hardly been allowed to receive visitors for more than a year. According to government guidelines, vaccinated people must also adhere to the guidelines. A jab is therefore not a license for visits or cuddling. The urgent advice is and remains: wash hands and keep your distance and no more than two visitors a day.
Still contagious after injection?
This is partly because it can take a while before a vaccination works. Most people get two vaccinations for good protection. You are well protected against the coronavirus from 1 week (with the Pfizer vaccine) to 2 weeks (with the Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines) after the 2nd shot. Sometimes one vaccination from Janssen is sufficient, but they are rarely used.
In addition, all kinds of research is still ongoing, because it is not clear whether someone who has been vaccinated against corona can still spread the virus.
That is why the advice of the government is: continue to follow the basic rules against the spread of the coronavirus. People can still infect each other.
But the question is, do you? So our statement this week is:
Now that I’m vaccinated, I regularly receive more than two visitors a day
