Many Dutch people no longer have confidence in the current healthcare system. Should insurers once again leave healthcare to the government?
The health care system we know today was introduced in 2006. Health insurers started to compete with each other on the basis of market forces, which would be beneficial for the insured. Premiums were reduced and the choice between policies expanded.
National health care fund
But now, more than ten years later, most people have lost confidence in our healthcare system, according to research by Ipsos at the request of Trouw. A small majority (57%) would like the government to take on the care task again. No less than 95 percent of our own readers want to return to a national health fund, which only the SP now has in its program.

Own risk
We are less critical about the deductible (385 euros). If abolishing this means that premiums will rise, only a third sees it fit.
What do you think?
We are curious if you have also lost confidence in our current healthcare system. Cast your vote and leave a comment below.
