According to Health Insurance figures, snoring remains an extremely common phenomenon since it concerns more than 40% of adults over 50 years of age. “Ronchopathy”, the correct term in medical language, occurs when the muscles of the back of the throat, the soft palate, the uvula and the tongue relax during deep sleep.
These organs take up more space and obstruct the airways. During inspiration, the air has more difficulty passing and vibrates the pharynx, causing a snoring noise, a noise that can rise up to 100 decibels. That is to say the equivalent of that of a large passing car!
Attention, snoring should never be taken lightly. Not just for the hearing comfort of the person sleeping next door, but for the person concerned too, since it sometimes hides a sleep apnea syndrome. Syndrome that requires a medical consultation since it generates great fatigueand nocturnal breathing pauses of which the sleeper is unaware.
If snoring remains a temporary phenomenon, there are solutions to avoid forcing your partner to go to sleep in another room! It is important to overcome it because casually, it causes a lot of fatigue with the risk of drowsiness during the day, for example.
In addition to anatomical causes such as a deviation of the nasal septum, snoring can be the result of allergic rhinitis or angina. In the latter case, it is the large volume of the tonsils that triggers the nocturnal noises. Do not panic, however, there are tips to overcome snoring.
