What is a smart speaker?
The device looks like a regular music player. The speaker is also known as the device of the future. By means of the built-in voice control, you can give this speaker various commands by talking to it. You can play music, turn lights on and off or set your alarm with your voice.
Which smart speakers are there?
There are several speakers on the market. These are the best known:
- Google Home: This smart speaker is powered by the Google Assistant. You can also ask questions and give assignments. This speaker is now for sale in the Netherlands. Working with Google Assistant is possible in Dutch.
- Sonos One | Sonos Beam: The Sonos brand will also provide its new speakers with voice control. The Sonos One and Sonos Beam are all set for the future. They are not yet available in Dutch, until then voice control is not yet possible.
- Amazon Echo: This is a smart speaker from the American webshop Amazon.com. The personal assistant is called Alexa. This speaker can be compared with the Google Home speaker. Only available in English.
- Apple Homepod: A smart speaker, which, as usual at Apple, is reasonably Apple-minded. It is only possible to listen to music via Apple Music and not via other services such as Spotify. Siri is used for voice control. The operation is currently only in English.
