We know that sleeping well is absolutely essential to stay in good health. Studies around the world have already shown that there is a link between insufficient sleep and Alzheimer’s disease, but also with obesity and overweight, the Type 2 diabetes, skin aging, memory and evenhypertension Where social media addiction.
This time, a British study (commissioned by the bedding brand Benson for beds, based in the United Kingdom) looked at the effects of lack of sleep on the quality of the skin. To do this, researchers from the Sleep School worked with 30 participants – British women of varying ages and backgrounds.
The principle of the experiment was simple: the first night, the volunteers could sleep 8 hours in a row. The second, their sleeping time was cut by 2 hours: 6 hours of sleep, not one more. The researchers took pictures of the women after each night to compare the condition of their skin.

On the program: pimples and blemishes
The verdict is edifying. After the 6-hour night, scientists observed an increase in imperfections by about 45% (fine lines, redness, oily areas, dark circles …) and an increase in the number of pimples by 13%. In some participants, we even observed + 127% (!) Of pimples and + 68% of redness! The impact of lack of sleep is also psychological: thus, 20% of volunteers felt a drop in their self-confidence, and 33% admitted to feeling “less sexy” …
“Sleep allows the body to heal, renew itself and eliminate toxins from the skin. When the hours of sleep are reduced, the body’s ability to perform these functions is also reduced ”analyzes Dr. Gy Meadows, principal coordinator of this study (source). Go hop, to sleep!
