Stomach aches, diarrhoea, aerophagia,… Gluten can become our worst enemy! If it is estimated that 0.2% of the population is allergic to it (and must do without it completely), many are inconvenienced by the digestion of wheat-based flours. This last category has difficulty digesting gluten, sees its daily life altered by this discomfort, but does not risk anything from a health point of view.
With intensive agriculture, wheat has evolved a lot from a genetic point of view. The objective was to have more yield and resistance. Wheat was the favorite cereal for these modifications: it had 14 chromosomes in its original version, compared to 42 today. If the agricultural result is there, the human body has not always followed…
Gluten linked to various health harms
If everyone does not live badly their gluten consumption, many studies point out that we tend to consume too much of it. Gold, gluten promotes the inflammatory state of the body and so much to increase intestinal permeability. It may therefore be useful to reduce it in any case.
But when it comes to thinking about stopping eating gluten, we realize that it’s almost everywhere… However, reducing it is enough to get rid of digestive pain. Without complicating life too much, what’s more! Starting with the choice of flours, there are many that contain (almost) no gluten.
Be careful, however, to exclude the tracks of allergy and celiac disease (permanent intolerance) by consulting a doctor and carrying out the necessary tests, before excluding gluten from your diet.
