While some manufacturers like Peugeot-Citroën-DS have deserted the aisles of Rétromobile in 2022, the clubs remain present to partially compensate for these defections. L’argus presents a brief overview of these associations which come to share their passion at the Salon.
Whether they are united by the love of a brand, a model or a type of vehicle, collectors like to meet in clubs. There are several hundred in France, and a show like Retromobile can only show the tip of the iceberg. These associations, of varying size, nevertheless remain one of the essential ingredients of the event. This year, the Peugeot clubs even had the task of compensating for the absence of their favorite brand. With inevitably much more limited means and unfortunately a little cramped stands.

Peugeot and Citroën present thanks to the clubs
The 104 could not celebrate its fiftieth anniversary with great fanfare, unlike its great rival Renault 5. But the 104 club was still there to honor it, while the 404 and 504 clubs or the friendly 504 showcased other Lion productions. The most collected brand in France, Citroën had given a better place to the associations responsible for representing it, starting with the Peugeot Citroën DS adventure. Associations devoted to the Méhari or the 2CV have also been able to benefit from this preferential treatment, as has the Citroën France club or the Euro SM Club. On the other hand, for Renault enthusiasts, it is really on the official stand of the mark that it will be necessary to go, in order to discover the great exhibition devoted to the 50 years of the R5. A city car that can be found on the lower floor, in hall 7.2, thanks to the club of old Renault enthusiasts in Ile-de-France.
Many brands represented
Retromobile is also an opportunity to see the reappearance of French manufacturers that have sometimes disappeared for a long time: Talbot, Simca, Delahaye, Facel Vega, DB… all these labels are represented by their community of enthusiasts, eager to revive their memories. As for the other countries, they are obviously not forgotten. The Porsche France club thus celebrates the anniversary of the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and 968, while its counterpart dedicated to Volvo celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 760 and the 30th anniversary of the 850. The Maserati and Jaguar clubs have the privilege of being able to welcome more cars on their stands. Lancia, Alfa Romeo, MG, Rover and Mercedes also have at least one association dedicated to them. But the rallying point of enthusiasts is not always a brand. There are also two clubs dedicated to American cars, another for the first three generations of Corvette and even one for the Volkswagen Golf 1 GTI alone: neither the convertible nor the following models are admitted here.
