The little spoonful of raw cake batter is not very good for your health, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Food and Drug Administration. Indeed, it would contain the bacterium Escherichia Coli, an intestinal bacteria originally harmless, which can become the serious cause of food poisoning. Only cooking can kill this intruder.
Good habits to avoid contamination with Escherichia Coli bacteria
The Food and Drug Administration recalls that to reduce the risk of food poisoning, it is necessary to:
-do not eat raw cookie dough or any other raw preparations which are supposed to be cooked.
– follow the instructions on the package for cooking at appropriate temperatures and for specified times.
-wash hands, clean work surfaces and utensils thoroughly after contact with raw food preparations
– keep raw foods separate from other foods
– follow label instructions for refrigerating products immediately after purchase and after use.
These recommendations must be followed to the letter by pregnant women, the elderly and children, a population at greater risk of contamination.
Infection with the bacterium Escherichia Coli causes digestive disorders, harmless or severe diarrhea and in 5 to 8% of cases, elimination of red blood cells and the development of kidney failure.
