The health program of the candidates for the Presidency of the Republic will make the difference at the polls. 8 out of 10 French people consider this theme decisive.
Candidates for the presidential election have every interest in taking care of their health program. He could well separate the votes, according to a Harris Interactive poll for LCP (1). When going through the voting booth, the proposals concerning this area will be “decisive” for 77% of people. On the personalities side, on the other hand, no one clearly dominates the debate. The French seem rather divided on the proposals of the various contenders.
In terms of health, not one is unanimous. The most popular is Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who represents the Communist Party and the Front de Gauche. 38% of respondents believe it can change the system. The environmental candidate, Yannick Jadot, for his part, collects only 14% of positive opinions. Very exposed on the subject in recent days, François Fillon won only 26% of the vote. For now, Emmanuel Macron and the candidates of the left have a slight advantage.
Different priorities
Health matters in the eyes of respondents: for more than a quarter of them, the various programs will be “very decisive” in guiding their vote. Highly educated people and supporters of the left are the most likely to say so.
Most of the French people interviewed agree on the fact that a reform of the health system is necessary. The priority axes, them, divide more. 62% believe that the intensification of checks against fraud and abuse should be placed at the top of the measures.
One in two respondents believe that limiting fee overruns is a priority. They are less likely to follow in the footsteps of the candidate of the right and the center. François Fillon proposed to concentrate reimbursements on the “big” risks, linked to long-term illnesses. 38% of people would prefer that such a measure not be implemented. Its supporters are a little more numerous to support this proposal.
