When to declare your pregnancy?
Your pregnancy must be declared to the organizations concerned before 14 weeks of amenorrhea, i.e. 3 months of pregnancy. It is carried out using a form entitled “First prenatal medical examination”, completed by your attending physician, your gynecologist or your midwife. It consists of three sheets. The pink sheet must be sent to the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM), the other two sheets (blue), are addressed to the Family allowance fund (CAF). As soon as your doctor has completed your declaration, don’t waste time sending it out. “The sooner the declaration is sent, the sooner your situation is taken into account,” underlines the National Health Insurance Fund for Salaried Workers (Cnamts). Thus, this declaration entitles you to maternity insurance: reimbursement of health costs caused by pregnancy andchildbirth, but also the payment.
When to register for a crèche?
As soon as your pregnancy is confirmed, do not delay going to your town hall or to the maternal child protection (PMI) services near you. In some municipalities, you have to register very early to hope to obtain a place, while in others, your registration will only be taken from the 6th month of pregnancy. The rules vary greatly from one municipality to another and even from one nursery to another (some are public, others private). It is therefore better to be far-sighted and get informed as quickly as possible.
A word of advice: do not hesitate to remind you regularly in good memory of the services of the town hall or the director of the crèche, a story that you will not be forgotten. But don’t inundate them with phone calls either!
Do not forget the birth certificate
To validate your registration in one of these structures, remember to send your baby’s birth certificate to the town hall or to the parental nursery.
