I take omeprazole (40 mg) for heartburn. Because I started having problems with my urinary tract, I tapered off omeprazole. My stomach problems are now back. The GP wants to send me to a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy. I already know in advance that I cannot handle this investigation, not even with a sedative. Is there another way to look at what is wrong with my stomach?

There are other research methods, but I don’t know what exactly the GP wants to know. Is he thinking of something evil? Is the complaint so bad that he thinks surgery is necessary?
I would ask for a ‘normal’ consultation with the internist (gastroenterologist) where you explain the matter and ask what the benefit or benefit of an endoscopy might be.
The complaint of heartburn in itself is not a reason for such an investigation; for this there must also be ‘alarm symptoms’, such as continuous vomiting, vomiting blood, anemia or ‘passage complaints’ (the food does not want to go any further).
