The last Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 road produced, which sports an official Pioneer livery, was offered for auction in July in Monaco. With less than 50,000 km and a good state of conservation, it finally sold for € 274,160.
[Mis à jour le 25/08/2021] Estimated between 240,000 and 300,000 €, the Peugeot 205 T16 in its Pioneer livery was finally sold for € 274,160. ***
Almost forgotten for several years, the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 has recently experienced a dazzling comeback. This icon of Group B, city car of 200 hp with a central-rear turbo engine and all-wheel drive, of which 219 road units were produced in the 1980s to allow the homologation of the rally model, sees its rating skyrocket. And the next copy that will be offered at auction may well accentuate this phenomenon.

A “real” T16 Pioneer for the road
The Artcurial house will soon put on sale the ultimate 205 T16 road. And if that wasn’t enough to make it even more “collector” than other T16s, this is the only car in the series to feature an official Pioneer livery. At the time, the Japanese manufacturer of electronic devices was sponsor of Peugeot in rally-raid. His name therefore appeared on the 205 T16 Grand Raid which straddled the dunes. This 1984 T16 was thus decorated at the request of its former owner, Jacky Setton, who was none other than the CEO of Pioneer France in the 1980s.

The 205 T16 200 Series has … 219 units.
A sale that promises big numbers
Mileage, precise condition and other technical information about the car will be communicated later. This latest 205 T16 200 Series is estimated between 240,000 and 300,000 €. Its selling price could exceed these amounts. Jean Todt’s ex-T16 recently changed hands for € 419,260, a few months after a copy kept by a Peugeot garage sold for € 291,760.

The full catalog of the sale also remains to be known, but we already know that the list of lots will include the Lamborghini Miura P400 that belonged to the former head of Peugeot style Paul Bouvot, as well as a stored but preserved Aston Martin DB5 with care for forty-two years. These vehicles will go on sale on July 19, 2021 at the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco.
