Launched in 2019, the sixth generation Opel Corsa (internal code Corsa F) will go through the restyling box in 2023. This will be the opportunity for the versatile sedan closely deriving from the Peugeot 208 toadopt the new face of the brand’s models in the blitz. For obvious economic reasons, the famous Vizor – the grille fully lacquered in black – will therefore be best suited between projectors, wings and a “soft nose” unchanged.
The only latitude left to the designers will be to reshape the contours of the shields, with probably a formal language close to that of the big sister, the compact sedan Opel Astra, which will arrive in dealerships in early 2022. It is an essential transformation to homogenize the brand catalog. And this, even if the Insiginia family sedan, Combo and Vivaro utilities and the Zafira Life van did not adopt this black mask. However, the change will not focus only on this cosmetic element. On board, digital instrumentation will be reviewed, as well as the multimedia touch interface. But above all, there will be something new under the hood of the Corsa!
New engine, new gearbox
The restyled Opel Corsa will benefit from the new 1.2 PureTech engine. The three-cylinder petrol unit manufactured in the Stellantis plant in Trémery, in Moselle, wisely swap its timing belt against a chain making the whole reliable. In addition, this engine will be combined with the e-DCT gearbox from the Belgian supplier Punch Powertrain on the light hybrid (MHEV) versions with 48 V technology. This dual-clutch, seven-speed transmission will replace the EAT8 automatic gearbox. to eight reports provided by the Japanese Aisin. For its part, the 100 hp 1.5 Diesel engine should bow out without any replacement.

The Corsa-e reviewed in depth
Another technical development on the program, that concerning the 100% electric version. The Opel Corsa-e will benefit from a new electric motor developed with the Japanese firm Nidec, while the CATL lithium-ion battery will see its chemistry modified. This accumulator will allow the German to gain autonomy.
The Peugeot e-208 made in Spain
Produced in the Spanish plant in Zaragoza, the thermal and electric Opel Corsas will welcome the restyled Peugeot e-208, but only the electric version of the lioness. This transfer to Spain of the French “wattée” and thermal versions in Morocco will free up space on the assembly lines of the industrial site in Trnava, Slovakia. This is to allow the arrival of the Stellantis Smart Cars project, including from 2023 the new Citroën C3 (CC21) and C3 Aircross (CC24), as well as the Opel Crossland (OV24). Program which will also concern two Fiat: the city car of segment B and a compact crossover.
