What if our education also taught us how to better feed our children? Conducted in 8 European countries with 15,000 children aged 2 to 9, the IDEFICS study (Identification and prevention of dietary- and lifestyle-induced health effects in children and infants) proves that children of parents with a low level of education will be more obese and overweight because their diet is poor in fruits and vegetables but rich in sweet products.
On the other hand, parents with a better level of education would take care to feed their children with products of better nutritional quality such as vegetables, fruits, pasta, rice and wholemeal bread.
According to the World Health Organization, 40 million children under 5 are obese today and humans now have more likely to die from obesity than hunger.
