This year marks a sharp increase in participation in Operation Mois dans tabac. No less than 241,000 people played the game.
November is tobacco-free month
This is the third edition of the Month without tobacco, this operation born in 2016 to help smokers reduce or completely stop their consumption. The month of November is ending, it’s time to take stock. This year, no less than 241,000 people signed up to take up this challenge.
A significant increase compared to last year since there are 84,000 more people than in 2017, an increase of 54%. In 2016, 180,000 smokers had joined the ranks. Very encouraging figures when we know that every year, around the world, six million people die from smoking.
Stop thirty days to stop definitively
According to addictologists, stopping for thirty consecutive days greatly increases the chances of stopping permanently. It is not yet known what proportion of registrants picked up on the way or stopped for good. But some figures are very positive: “ The e-coaching application (…) has been downloaded almost 86,000 times »Specifies Public Health France.
That’s not all : “ More than 21,000 people used 39 89, the Tobacco Info Service telephone line »And the sale of nicotine substitutes (chewing gum, lozenges or patches) increased by 66% this month. Growth which can be explained in particular by reimbursement by Medicare at 65%, without ceiling, of these products sold in pharmacies.
