Ring security gadgets help keep everything safe, and the new Alarm sensor adds a striking new category.
With today’s IoT devices you can arm yourself against all kinds of burglaries. You have motion sensors, door locks and cameras, but Ring goes one step further. The security expert announces a new Ring Alarm sensor with a very specific purpose: it hears it immediately when a window is tapped.
Ring Alarm hears broken windows
The new sensor is specially designed to detect broken windows. It is nice and nice if you point a camera at the front door, but what if someone simply taps into your kitchen window? The new security gadget also combats this form of burglary. You do need the base station for it!
The sensor does have a very limited detection radius of 7.5 meters. By means of a specially trained AI, the sensor specifically hears broken glass. According to Ring the sensor can distinguish between ringing keys, cutlery and other everyday sounds.
The alarm system only goes off when a window is broken. You will then receive a notification of a burglary and you can set the Ring Alarm to sound a siren. The thief, who in the meantime hangs half his body through the kitchen window, also hears that he has been caught.
It will be interesting to experience this new security gadget in practice. For example, what happens if you drop a glass? In addition, the burglar just has to tap the window within 7.5 meters of the sensor. Of course, Ring emphasizes that all other security gadgets of the company for even more complete security.
The Ring Alarm sensor will be available soon for $45 and requires the base station of at least $250 for a five-piece set.
