Morgan presents the Plus Four CX-T, an all-terrain version of its new roadster, which will be limited to eight units in production. The British manufacturer has not done in half measures, and the two-seater is truly equipped for adventure. Count more than 200,000 € to take advantage of it.
It is one of the trends of the moment, not a day goes by without discovering a sports car transformed into an all-terrain vehicle. This fashion touches up to Morgan, since today it is the turn of the small British manufacturer of neo-retro roadsters to present a creation of this type: the Plus Four CX-T.
The CX-T does not make up the figure
Always, of Morgan owners have ventured off the beaten track with their English, including in competitions which can be traced back to 1911 according to the Malvern firm. This is what Morgan was inspired to create, in about eighteen months, the Plus Four CX-T.
Its suffix comes from the new CX aluminum platform, on which the latest Plus Six and Plus Four are based and from the word trial, with reference to crossing competitions. Rally Raid UK, a preparer specializing in particular in vehicles intended for the Dakar, worked with Morgan on the vehicle.
The car has specific suspension and off-road tires. Its suspension wishbones have been modified, its tracks widened, its exhaust outlets moved to the sides and its fenders, re-cut. This treatment allows the CX-T to display a ground clearance of 23 cm. Five plates protect the foundations. The car remains a propulsion, but its rear differential now has three electronic locking modes. This device comes from BMW, like the four-cylinder 2.0 turbo of 258 hp of the Plus Four and its transmission. The CX-T is presented with a manual gearbox. The Plus Four is also available as an automatic.
Eight Plus Oven CX-T only
The Plus Four CX-T is fitted with a rigid roof made of composite material onto which an arch has been grafted. This “exoskeleton” can be used to transport a bicycle or a surfboard for example, while protecting the passenger compartment. The rear body panel has been replaced by an open trunk accommodating two spare wheels, two watertight luggage compartments and an aluminum toolbox in particular. This elongated rear upper part gives the CX-T a silhouette reminiscent of certain four-seater Morgan of the past.
Only eight Plus Four CX-T were to be produced. Each customer can personalize their copy by calling on the designers at Morgan before the car is sent to Rally Raid UK for transformation. The base price of the Morgan Plus Four CX-T has been set at £ 170,000, or around € 200,000 excluding tax.
