Jaguar presents the Vision Gran Turismo Roadster, a 1,020hp virtual electric concept car for the Gran Turismo 7 video game. This supercar completes the trio of Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo concepts.
In 2019, Jaguar unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo Coupé, a virtual electric racing car concept intended for the Gran Turismo Sport video game, and presented a life-size model to mark the event. In 2020, the British manufacturer declined this coupe in a longer and more powerful variant dedicated to endurance and bearing the suffix SV, still for games in the GT saga. Today, for the release of Gran Turismo 7, Jaguar is back with the Vision Gran Turismo Roadster to drive in this new opus.
The Type D as inspiration
As its name suggests, this new creation is roofless. Its asymmetrical single-seater bodywork – with the driver on the right – is clearly reminiscent of the D-Type, whose influence was already claimed for the other two Jaguar Vision GTs. This trio of concept cars echoes the Type D’s three victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1955 and 1957.
As on this illustrious inspiration, a longitudinal fin extends the driver’s head restraint. Jaguar says it developed the car’s aerodynamic attributes through computer simulation as for a real vehicle. As for the rest, we find the very refined style of the two coupes with extremely thin lights, muscular curves and an elongated silhouette. The round headlights and the leather straps on the front fenders add a neo-retro touch.

1,020 open-air electric horsepower
The roadster takes over the powertrain of the Vision GT Coupé, namely three electric motors (one in the front, two in the rear) taken from Formula E and sending together 1,020 hp and 1,200 Nm of four-wheel torque. Enough to propel the car from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 2 s with a top speed of over 320 km/h.
The location of the battery contributes to an equal weight distribution between the two axles according to Jaguar. The weight of the roadster was not indicated; the Coventry firm had announced 1,400 kg for the coupe, thanks in particular to a construction combining carbon composites and aluminum alloys. Gran Turismo 7 has been available on Sony’s PS4 and PS5 consoles since March 4, 2022.
