Stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, alcohol … The health of French students shows a mediocre rating, according to theannual survey of the SMEREP mutualfor which 1,214 students and 771 high school students responded to online questionnaires between April and June 2016. 10% of them consider themselves in poor health but do not consult, however, because 20% of students in the Ile-de-France and 14% of students throughout France find that doctors are too expensive.
French students and high school students do not take care of their lifestyle
While 64% of high school students sleep poorly (less than six hours per night for a third of them), 38% of students are stressed out to the point that it disrupts their daily life. Likewise, two in 10 do not pay attention to their diet and 22% of students spend less than € 5 per day on food. To compensate, they are more than 90% at nibble “excessive”. However, they are still little aware of cardiovascular risks since 20% of students do not know what blood pressure, 31% are resaling their dish and 10% already have a cholesterol too high.
At the same time, half of the students are not satisfied with their body and they are a third to have already do a diet.
Sexuality and dependence: frequent risk behaviors
The vast majority of students consumealcohol(68%) and nearly a third of them (29%) admit that they consume more regularly and / or more compared to their first drinks. In addition, a quarter of students and 14% of high school students have already consumed psychoactive products. Another worrying finding: nearly 20% of high school students are smokers. Finally, 42% of high school students and 57% of students do not systematically wear condomduring intercourse. A worrying figure to be linked to the fact that two students or high school students in 10 are poorly informed about the modes of transmission of AIDS, when 10% of students and 15% of high school students think it is possible to cure this virus. In addition, nearly half of Ile-de-France students have already used the morning after pill.
