Mini removes the entry level of its flagship model and offers a new special series called Resolute. For once, there is no price increase to report. The Mini Hatch starts at €22,600 and still comes in three- or five-door body styles.
Mini is slightly changing the range of its flagship model from this month of February. Good news since this change is not accompanied by any price increase, to which manufacturers have accustomed us at the start of each year. Nevertheless, the German-British firm withdrew from its catalog the placid basic engine One 75 (75 hp), which mechanically increased the entry ticket to €22,600 (+ €1,300).
A range reduced to five engines
The Mini Hatch range revolves around four petrol engines and the Cooper SE electric variant. The One and Cooper versions have a three-cylinder turbo 1.5 developing 102 and 136 hp respectively, while the Cooper S is fitted with a 178 hp 2.0 supercharged four-cylinder. Since the disappearance of the radical GP, which offered 306 hp, the offer is capped by the sporty John Cooper Works, whose block of Cooper S is pushed to 231 hp. The latter is the only one, in thermal, not to be available in five-door bodywork and to favor an automatic transmission with eight-speed converter. The other variants prefer to offer a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, in addition to the six-speed manual gearbox which remains standard across the range. The electric Mini Cooper SE is only available with a single 184 hp electric block and in three doors.
New Resolute Special Series
Like the Countryman Untamed, the Mini Hatch also has a new special series, called Resolute. It is distinguished by its “Rebel Green” exterior, as well as its white roof and mirror caps. The chrome elements are darkened, while the bezel of the headlights, the grille surround, the door handles and the fuel cap are painted bronze. The Hatch Resolute is also characterized by its two golden patterned stripes on the hood, and it sits on specific 17 or 18-inch rims depending on the version.
The passenger compartment gains sports seats, as well as mixed upholstery consisting of black imitation leather and a central part in fabric with fine yellow and white checks. The dashboard receives an insert echoing the bands on the bonnet. Finally, there are “Resolute” inscriptions on the door sills and on the steering wheel.
