With a quality microwave oven, manufactured according to safety standards, and in good conditions of use, there is little exposure. As a precaution, however, it is advisable not to stay glued to the oven when it is working: you move away from 1 to 2 meters.
That said, that’s ideal! “First important point, and this is well specified by the manufacturers: the oven seal must be changed every year. It is far from always being done, if ever! Second point: even if it still works, an oven microwave does not have an eternal lifespan: it must be changed after a maximum of 5 years, sometimes before if it is not of good quality, ”explains Pierre Le Ruz.
“In addition, it is better to check your oven, even when it is brand new! In a series, a device may have a malfunction. It has thus happened to find high wave emission values. In this case, the sellers change it without problem, ”warns the specialist.
How to verify it?
You can put a cell phone inside – be careful, without turning on the oven: risk of explosion! -, and go to another room to call it with another mobile: if it rings, the oven is undeniably leaking. But with this technique, it is not known whether the leak is large or not. Hence the interest in buying a smallwaves resembling a neon tube: we pass the tube in front of the door, it lights up in the event of a noticeable leak, and this means that it is necessary to separate from its oven.
