Microsoft announces requirements for Android apps on Windows 11

Since last week it is possible for American users to run Android apps on Windows 11. There are minimal hardware requirements.

The American company has now confirmed the minimum hardware requirements (also called minimum specifications). When a computer meets the minimum requirements, which we adopt below, it is therefore able to download apps from the Amazon AppStore. That’s not Google’s official Android store, but a third-party alternative. At this time, Google has no plans to bring Google Play to Windows 11.

Minimum specifications for Android on Windows 11

Unfortunately, when a computer is Windows 11 capable, it cannot automatically run Android apps. That is why Microsoft is now confirming the minimum requirements that a computer must meet to fulfil to make that happen. The minimum specifications are listed below.

  • Working memory (ram):
    • Minimum: 8 GB
    • Recommended: 16GB
  • Storage:
    • solid state drive (ssd)
  • Processor:
    • Eighth Gen Intel Core i3 (minimum) or higher
    • AMD Ryzen 3000 (minimum) or higher
    • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c (minimum) or higher
  • Processor architecture:
    • x64 or ARM64
  • Virtual Machine Platform:
