While work can be the source of many psychological ailments, a new survey shows that 81% of French companies do not deploy any means to prevent or solve them.
- In the fall of 2021, according to the latest wave of the CoviPrev survey by Public Health France, 17% of French people showed “signs of a depressive state”.
- 23% had “signs of an anxious state”.
Although mental health is an issue that is increasingly exposed in the media and on social networks, it is still far from being a central subject within most French companies.
Feeling of sadness
So, according to a new poll conducted by Captera, 44% of workers believe that their company gives little or no importance to their mental health. However, “a visible impact on the physical and moral health of employees was mentioned in direct connection with their work or their professional tasks”, write the authors of the survey.
Among the four main consequences mentioned are:
– sleep problems (36%).
– Constant worry (23%).
– A feeling of sadness (19%).
– Physical symptoms, such as dizziness, muscle tenseness or pain, stomach problems, chest pain or even rapid heartbeat (18%).
Flexibility of schedules
Additionally, only 19% of employees surveyed say their work structure offers mental health resources (such as counselling, wellness reimbursements, yoga, etc.). And within the group of respondents whose companies have psychological means, 10% of them say they are never informed.
To preserve their mental health, respondents believe that the most effective elements are: flexible working hours, paid holidays, ergonomic equipment for the home office and finally reimbursements for activities related to well-being, such as sport. for example.
