1. House party. This app is available for Apple and Android phones and Macintosh computers. It makes it possible to make video calls with a group. You see all participants in a screen. If you want, you can also make one-on-one video calls with someone. The app also has some fun games to while away time together.
2. Whatsapp. With this you can chat, send photos and videos, but also make free calls. However, the connection quality is not always great.
3. Facetime allows you to make video calls with up to 32 people, but this app has a major drawback: it is only available on Apple products, so the iPhone, iPad or iMac.
4. Skype is a well-known app for video chatting. You can also just call with it. Calling other Skype contacts is free, but if you call someone on their mobile or landline number, you have to buy a credit or subscription. Skype also makes it possible to call someone whose language you don’t speak. It has a built-in translation function.
5. An original app is Netflix Party. This allows you to watch a Netflix movie together and you can chat and comment on the movie in the meantime. This app is easy to install as an extension of your Chrome internet browser.
6. Many people who are dating are now putting that on the back burner. But of course you can chat. In the most used apps Tinder and Happn you can only send text messages, not video calls. You can also send sound clips in Happn. Handy if you want to hear someone’s voice. If a virtual click occurs, it is therefore advisable to start video calling via one of the aforementioned apps.
