Your medical file can now be consulted by a whole bunch of health professions, but also their assistants or collaborators, as allowed by a decree published at the end of July. Problem: only doctors are bound by medical confidentiality, protected by law …
Personal medical records are no longer secure
According to the decree published on July 22, people authorized to consult the personal medical file (DMP) can just as easily be psychotherapists or osteopaths, as maternal assistants or socio-educational accompanists. Gold, none of these professions is subject to medical confidentiality, which only exists for doctors!
As a result, if these health actors become aware of sensitive data concerning a patient, they could disclose it, voluntarily or involuntarily. At the risk of harming the patient.
A practice that already existed
Defenders of the decree say that it only frames an already widespread practice, when these health actors received oral patients from doctors and accompanied them with information about them.
However, the decree provides that access to the DMP must always be authorized in advance by its holder.
