Will it soon be possible to request a prescription from the physiotherapist, from a nurse or even directly from the pharmacy? This is the project of Stéphanie Rist, MP for the majority and rapporteur for the Social Security budget for 2023, who wishes to speed things up in the face of medical desertification. “For first prescriptions, it is just starting in experimentation, we want to generalize it”she says.
This generalization concerns, for example, nurses, and more particularly those in advanced practice (IPA). It will be about practitioners”who will be able to see benign illnesses in place of the doctor but in coordination with him“, explained the deputy. She would like at the same time “give the possibility to these advanced practice nurses to be able to make a prescription when it falls within their competence, even before the patient can see the doctor“. But what does IPA status correspond to? Created via the Touraine law of 2016 and a decree of 2018, this status corresponds to a bac+5 and a better salary and better autonomy, but always under the supervision of a doctor.
With her bill, the member also wants allow access to other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists, speech therapists or even pharmacists. A proposal which falls at the same time as an agreement signed on October 13 between the Order of Physicians and several health orders, therefore those of nurses, dental surgeons, masseurs-physiotherapists, podiatrist pedicures, pharmacists and sages. -women and aimed at delegating certain medical procedures. A device welcomed and encouraged by the Ministry of Health.

Promote cooperative actions between health professionals
If the transfer of skills is already at work with regard to vaccination (nurses and pharmacists can vaccinate from the age of 16 without medical prescription since April 2022, and midwives can vaccinate children since August 2022), this deal could have”an immediate impact in terms of improving access to healthcare”, according to the Clio, the liaison committee of ordinal institutions. He could also”promote cooperation actions between health professionals, the transversality of care but also the enhancement of the skills of health professionals. The proposals of this agreement aim to “build an organization of city medicine that meets the principle of the right health professional, in the right place at the right time”keep it up communicated.
The main union of general practitioners in France, MG France, nevertheless opposed this agreement, and denounced a “bypassing the care pathway by selling certain missions of the attending physician“. “Noting that some patients do not have access to a treating physician, and rather than working on what could facilitate this access, the government claims to teach the population how to do without it”regrets the union in a communicated published on October 14. In France, seven million people have no attending physician.
Renewal of prescription, prescription of drugs… The list of tasks is not yet known and should be established within three months.
