The threat of doctors to boycott the Carte vitale, to oppose Marisol Touraine’s health bill, risks penalizing the French. A double penalty for patients, already victims of doctors strike at Christmas, protests the association of consumers UFC-Que Choisir. The possible refusal of practitioners to practice teletransmissions to return to traditional paper care sheets should indeed extend the reimbursement periods of several weeks or even up to two months, according to the Health Insurance.
The UFC-Que Choisir therefore calls on patients not to be let down. A symbolic action, a symbolic response: if a doctor refuses his patient’s Carte vitale, then the latter is invited to pay it in “yellow coins”. The consumer association launches this sling to denounce the refusal of the Carte Vitale which is akin to “a doubly irresponsible mode of action”.
The association justifies this somewhat special “yellow coins operation”: “refusing the Vitale card is clogging up care sheets from the primary health insurance funds which are no longer sized to deal with such an influx, especially in winter. . (…) Moreover, this mode of action will be a source of additional management costs for social security, at a time when, on the contrary, we must save on these to continue to finance our health system “.
Doctors are mobilized in particular against the generalization of third-party payment, the consequences of which they fear in terms of work overload and financial management (payment of the consultation later).
