The mobilization of medical students against the reform of the boarding school continues. Strikes are organized everywhere in France to demand the postponement of the reform.
The scolding of interns in medicine does not weaken. After an extraordinary assembly organized this weekend, the National Intersyndicat des Interns (ISNI) has decided to continue its strike movement and calls for a postponement of the reform of medical studies by at least a year.
Future doctors believe that this reform of their training is not complete, or even that it would be dangerous. Their main grievance is the merger between their last year of internship and the assistantship, ie replacing a year of theoretical course by a year of practice with patients with a supervisor. They believe that this measure will shorten their training time and therefore its quality.
In addition, they consider that the new models of specialties, are not finalized while the re-entry of the new interns is fast approaching. In addition, the Council of State is awaiting a draft decree for the 1er next May. “Realistically, too many points are still unclear and the deadlines are recognized as too short by the general assembly, which must protect the training of interns currently in the course”. Thus, more than 60% of the students voted in favor of postponing the reform until the 2018-2019 school year.

A petition collects 3,400 signatures
“We refuse to be caught between two governments. Since the quality of training for interns is synonymous with the quality of care, we cannot allow a political timetable and economic measures to guide this reform, ”said ISNI.
In this context, the first union of boarding students does not intend to let go. He specifies that a “general mobilization will be organized after the presidential elections”, and adds that “all the cities will be free to organize, with the support of the ISNI, local movements by then, as in the hospitals in Nice today, Marseille tomorrow and Rouen on Thursday ”. These mobilizations are supported by many unions of doctors and learned societies.
In parallel, a petition on change.org was launched following the national strike of April 18 which brought together more than a thousand students in front of the Ministry of Higher Education. At this stage, more than 3,400 people have provided support. ISNI hopes to collect 5,000 signatures
