This December 1st and 2nd, the door of many medical offices will be closed due to a social movement, initiated by the non-union and apolitical collective Doctors for tomorrow. Their main request: an increase in the price of consultations. Practitioners are calling for a price increase to 50 euros. The latter also require abandonment “binding CPAM flat rates”, the recruitment of administrative staff and the return of a “human medicine”, which allows them to have more time to care for the sick.
Doctors’ strike: “repercussions on emergency services”
This is the first time since 2015 that all medical unions have supported this strike. “There could be repercussions for emergency services,” reported, to Parisian, Noëlle Cariclet, spokesperson for the collective. According to the Regional Health Agencies (ARS), most patients were contacted beforehand in order to reschedule their appointment which was planned during the mobilization. “Every night, the specific outpatient care system (on-duty service for general practitioners) will be guaranteed, requisitions being made in conjunction with liberal professionals”, indicated theARS Brittany.
What if my doctor goes on strike?
In case of emergency, it is recommended to contact SOS Médecins directly (whose number is 36 24) or to dial 15, namely the SAMU. This call allows you to benefit from medical advice, to be directed to a doctor on call, to be directed to the emergency room or to benefit from the dispatch of a medical team on site.
“Finally, it should be remembered that for the first symptoms, such as colds, simple wounds, pharyngeal pain, first degree burns, constipation… You can go to the pharmacy. You will have appropriate advice, and the qualified team will be able to tell you if your case requires a referral to an urgent consultation with a doctor”, can we read in a press release from ARS Bretagne.
