The new flagship of the Mazda range, the CX-60 plug-in hybrid SUV brings this technology to the brand and embodies its “premiumization”. This rival of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC, which will be available from September 2022, is billed between 52,650 and 58,050 €.
For several years now, Mazda has wanted to change its image and reposition its range by leaving the world of generalist brands to enter that much envied by premium manufacturers. After the Mazda 3 compact sedan and the Mazda CX-30 SUV, this ambitious strategy is materializing with the new Mazda CX-60 SUV. With a format of 4.75 m, it logically comes above the CX-5 and now embodies the brand’s top of the range. Produced in the Hofu-2 plant in Japan, the CX-60 will be marketed in France from September 2022. It will compete against the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC, not to mention a model with an almost similar name: the Volvo XC60. Orders are open and, for this purpose, the Hiroshima brand publishes the prices of the CX-60.
Mazda CX-60: one engine, four trim levels
For the Mazda CX-60, in France, only one engine will be on the program. Iit is a plug-in hybrid – technology that it introduces in the range –, whose cumulative power reaches 327 hp. For this, it combines a naturally aspirated 2.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine developing 192 hp for a torque value of 261 Nm at the front and an electric motor offering 136 hp and 250 Nm connected to the rear axle. A hitch called 2.5 e-SkyActiv PHEV 4 x 4 which therefore offers all-wheel drive.
“The Mazda is homologated for a range in electric mode of 63 km according to the WLTP cycle.“
The Mazda CX-60 range is articulated around four trim levels: Prime-Line, Exclusive-Line, Homura and Takumi. Homura is the sporty livery, while Takumi is traditionally the classier. Mazda CX-60 prices range from €52,650 to €58,050.
