The future Mazda CX-60, recently announced but not yet unveiled, shows itself in advance devoid of any camouflage, surprised during a shoot. Two finishes are visible. The SUV will have a new platform and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Mazda is wasting no time in the development and marketing of the five new SUVs announced in early October. The CX-50 reserved for North America has just been presented there, and here it is the CX-60 intended for the Old Continent is surprised without the slightest camouflage, during the shooting of a promotional video.
A soberly muscular look
Like the next CX-5 which will be launched earlier, and like the future CX-80 which will offer seven seats, the Mazda CX-60 will be based on a new longitudinal engine architecture and should therefore offer the choice between propulsion and all-wheel drive, hence slightly revised proportions compared to the current SUV of the brand. However, we recognize at first glance the manufacturer’s Kodo style, which will therefore not revolutionize its aesthetic language. The CX-60 sports small front optical units reminiscent of those of the MX-30, connected to a grille much larger than that of said electric crossover by a chrome insert that surrounds the front air intake. The pushed openings at the side ends of the front bumper visually sit the vehicle, the width of which should remain contained since the CX-60 is designed for Europe and Japan. In other markets such as North America, its segment will be occupied by a larger CX-70. The almost horizontal hood, curved rear fenders and thick rear pillars add muscle to the car.

The Mazda CX-60 will first be marketed with plug-in hybrid mechanics having as thermal block a four-cylinder petrol. Then two six-cylinder micro-hybrids, namely a SkyActiv-X petrol engine and a SkyActiv-D diesel, will complete the catalog. The CX-80 will take over these powertrains.
