While the period of adolescence is characterized by many changes, both physical and psychological, it generates a range of varied complexes Among them, acne. Although this condition also affects adults, a young girl or a young man with pimple-covered skin necessarily implies an alteration in the quality of life. Socially, acne can isolate among other examples.
According to a 2017 survey carried out by the French Society of Dermatology, of the 15 million French people who suffer from this skin disease, 3.3 million of them are over 15 years old. Statistics also reveal that one in three French people between the ages of 12 and 40 suffers from it.
Faced with this picture, the war of the buttons can sometimes turn into an obsession. We see it for example on social networks where we no longer count the number of more or less fanciful methods or tricks to eradicate the enemy. Among the techniques that are a hit, the “Sticky method”. This would be supposed to ensure that any mark or trace of acne becomes completely invisible.
Sticky method: how does it work?
The term can be translated in French by “sticky method”. This is a routine broken down into several phases.
- First of all the application of a moisturizing serum, but preferably with a slightly sticky texture.
- Then, when dry, apply a base layer of make-up.
- Next we use a brush to put a matte concealer. Everything will adhere easily thanks to this sticky backdrop.
- We let dry well, an essential step according to the American make-up artist behind this video that has gone viral.
- It is only once the skin is dry that we can move on to the step applying foundation with a sponge.
Sticky method: the opinion of the dermatologist
Currently, the post has garnered over 700,000 likes. So should we give in to this trend? Of course, as we said above, “acne is a condition with a significant psychological impact on quality of life and self-esteem”, confirms Nadine Pomarede, dermatologist. However, it cannot be used daily. At most once in a while for a specific occasion, but out of the question to use it every day.
“This practice poses two problems. : a risk of occlusion of the skin which can result from the aggravation of the inflammatory lesions that this routine can cause. And the difficulty of carrying out a correct cleansing of the skin, in order to remove any make-up residue. Indeed, the skin must be perfectly clean before applying any medical care. To properly remove the applied layers, the risk is to irritate the skin and sensitize it, or even make it more reactive to local treatments!”continues the specialist.
So be careful with this kind of video. let’s remember that acne is getting better and better, and that it can be taken care of by a specialist. In addition, complexion correctors are a daily aid to mask imperfections without aggravating them. These products are indeed tested non-comedogenic, and do not aggravate acne. But when it comes to long-term treatment, personalized long-term treatments can really solve the problem and take away the complex.
