The poster car can be yours
Is it just us, or is the offer of the government auction at Domains getting better and better? A real Lamborghini Diablo has just appeared on the Domains website. It might be the perfect opportunity to put the car that once hung as a poster in your room in your garage. It’s not the most glamorous way to buy a supercar (there will be no flowers and champagne) but hey, it’s still a Diablo.
At Domains you never know exactly what you are buying, but in the case of an old Lamborghini you know that you will incur a lot of maintenance costs. So you just have certainty. This Diablo was built just before Volkswagen bought it all and placed it at Audi. So no Volkswagen displays in the counter yet. Incidentally, this yellow Lambo was only registered in the Netherlands in 2015. The power of the V12 is just under 500 hp and of course there is a manual gearbox.
This example has 40,000 kilometers of experience. Why it is now in the hands of the government is not fully known. According to the license plate check, the car has only been owned by companies since 2015. Also gives Domains no indication of what the car should cost approximately. Internationally, models with comparable mileage are for sale for just over 230,000 euros.
The successor to the Countach
On January 21, 1990, after five years of planing and tinkering, the Diablo was unveiled at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo as the successor to the Countach. With a 5.7-liter V12 and a top speed of 325 km/h, it was the fastest production car at the time. Of course, it had rear-wheel drive (most variants after that had four-wheel drive), gull-wing doors and a hefty price tag. A quarter of a million dollars. Without power steering and with a clutch that only an athlete could operate.
