Kaspersky Lab once again labeled a threat

Russian antivirus maker Kaspersky Lab has once again been labeled a threat. This time it is done by the American communications watchdog.

The FCC, Federal Communications Commission, in the United States placed Kaspersky Lab blacklisted companies that “pose a threat to national security” there. As a result, American companies, which receive subsidies from the government, cannot do business with the Russian company.

Kaspersky Lab calls this ‘a political decision’

Of course, Kaspersky Lab disagrees. The company said in a statement that it is disappointed with this decision. In addition, the decision would have nothing to do with the technical side of the story, but rather be politically charged.

Kaspersky recently received similar news when it emerged that the German government is advising companies against using the Russian software maker’s products. At the time, Kaspersky issued the same statement. That decision was also made on political grounds and therefore related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Dutch government has not used the anti-virus software from Russia for years. Since 2018, this has no longer been done “as a precaution”, but the government has never clearly explained why that decision was taken.
